THE CHAPTER  COMMITTEES

Each committee has its own goals and set of requirements for points

Big Sib

We coordinate the Big Sibling program between classes and incoming veterinary students. The Committee is responsible for Big Sibling matching and organizing events for the Siblings to attend. Although this is a Chapter committee it is not necessary for Siblings to be Chapter members.

Communications

A Natural Girl

We document and record club events in photographic form, appointing photographers as needed. These records are stored or distributed as determined by the E-Board. The Committee promotes club activities.

Wellness

Meditation in Forest

We are in charge of all events pertaining to Wellness Week which will fall during the week before finals week each semester. The committee will host events that promote health and wellness for our members.

Fundraising

We handle club funds, coordinate club fundraising activities, including funds for symposium and general funds. The Chapter Treasurer acts as co-chairperson of this committee. The Fundraising Committee determines distribution of fundraising monies at the beginning of each academic year.

Public Health

We organize a symposium to educate students about important public health topics and the concept of “One Health.” The committee is responsible for creating events to fundraise for the symposium.

Open House

We plan and organize the open house for the College of Veterinary Medicine in the spring semester. The Chair of the committee shall be a second year student. The Vice Chair of committee shall be a first year student that assumes the duties for the next year.

Community Service

Food Packing

We are responsible for planning, advertising, fundraising, and working any event that benefits the surrounding community.

Legistlation

Story Book

We  revise and update the Chapter bylaws based upon suggestions and ideas from the Chapter body. We monitor and report pertinent animal and veterinary legislation. We coordinate and organize Chapter elections, verify eligibility of candidates and voters, prepare and distribute necessary documents (ballots, etc). 

IVSA

Hot Air Balloons

We plan and organize International Night including fundraising, attending, advertising, and attending the event. The committee work towards fundraising to send students abroad through an approved veterinary program

DART

We organize a symposium to educate students about disaster relief.  The committee is responsible for creating events to fundraise for the symposium. Committee members complete a certification through FEMA and CAVMRC (https://training.fema.gov/is/crslist.aspx)

Conference

Subaquatic Life

We orchestrate any affairs relating to conferences, including but not limited to: SAVMA Symposium, AVMA Conference, Veterinary Leadership Conference, Iverson Bell Symposium, and the Pre-vet Symposium. The committee is responsible for compiling information about the symposiums, advertising the events, notifying members about registration deadlines, and working with the university to plan conferences during applicable years.
